I have been searching for a passion fruit gin for sometime and was starting to think that it didn’t exist because the passion fruit would overpower the gin and be sickly sweet and then I stumbled upon this Gin by accident on a trip to Somerset.
On the nose this gin screams passion fruit with undertones of orange. However on the palette it is complex, initially you are welcomed with a passion fruit and orange hit followed by subtle undertones of citrus and floral notes.
Trevethan Passion Fruit and Orange Blossom Gin starts life as the Trevethan original London Dry then post distillation whole passion fruits and orange blossom extract are added to form this delightful, fully rounded fruity gin. I usually find that adding botanicals at the end of the distillation process leaves an unwanted lining in the mouth and a sugary feel on the teeth, this gin does not do that. It is refreshing and a delight to drink.
Served with Fevertree Indian tonic and fresh mint, this is sure to hit the spot if you are a fan of passion fruit. Orange peel would also be a great addition to serve with.
This gin would make a fantastic substitution for the Passoa in a Pornstar Martini..
If you are in the UK then I would recommend purchasing this online directly from Trevethan. Delivery was free and arrived the day after I ordered, which is incredibly good for someone living in the North East of Scotland.
